Smart Bus Stop in The Straits Times, Life
October 2016

We are thrilled to have the opportunity to share with journalist, Natasha Zachariah, a future bus stop design we've envisioned — bus stops designed to link with national Meteological Services for geo-weather data. With the information, these shelters will always have their roofs automatically rotated to face against the Sun to provide maximum cover for passengers underneath.

Underscore Presents - MUJI Living in a Garden City
September 2016

Celebrating the new expansion of MUJI store at ION Orchard, 'MUJI Living in a Garden City', presented by Underscore, is an exhibition exploring MUJI roles in Singapore urban living.

We are thrilled to be invited as one of the 18 creatives to reimagine, repurpose and reinterprete an existing MUJI product. A documentation of our 'self-aging sticky memo' product will be published soon.

The Crowbar Awards 2016 — Head of Jury, Design

We are delighted to announce that our Creative Director, Jonathan Yuen, has been invited to serve as the Head of Jury in Design category for this year The Crowbar Awards 2016.

The judging took place in the month of July, and the results will be announced during an award ceremony on 19 August 2016.

Tokyo TDC Awards 2016 exhibition
June 2016

We are delighted to share 'John Mead Dance Company' is currently exhibiting at the Tokyo TDC Awards 2016 exhibition, which is held at Ginza Graphic Gallery in Tokyo from 3 till 27 June.

"The exhibition presents a total of 158 works including the award-winning and nominated works and works which won high marks at the primary selection."

Talk at Nanyang Polytechnic
June 2016

Jonathan was invited to host a talk session at Nanyang Polytechnic on June 30.

Speaking to a hall of student from year 1 to 3, he shared the studio naturally chaotic design processes and resulting work throughout the years, how cross-polination of different disciplines and parties including client, as part of the creative process to push the studio work forward.

Talk at SingaPlural 2016
February 2016

Jonathan will be sharing a discussion session together with Alvin Tan (PHUNK), moderated by Justin Zhuang (In Plain Words) in the coming March 9, at SingaPlural 2016.

He will be sharing his creative processes from a few of his work that explore the intricate interplay between our senses of visual, touch and memory, and how these linked experiences are form of creative ideas.

This session is part of the general admission of the festival.

Golden Pin Design Award 2015 — Finalist for Best Design
October 2015

After a rigorous Final Selection, we are delighted that 'systems14' is one of the finalists for this year Golden Pin Design Award 2015 Best Design category.

The Final Selection jury, chaired by renowned Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa, had selected 57 finalists from the 565 Design Mark winners. The winners of Best Design will be announced in December 10.

We are delighted to announce 'John Mead Dance Company' and 'systems14' have successfully went through primary and secondary judging rounds to receive the Golden Pin Design Award 2015 — Design Mark out of 1964 entries globally. These two works will now be part of the Final Selections in Taiwan, for the coveted 'Best Design' award to be announced in December.

Lecture in Kaohsiung, Taiwan
May 2015

Our creative director is honored to be invited to give a lecture talk at Shu-Te University in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The topic is 'The Old in The New, The New in The Old'. The talk explores the core tenets and principles of Roots, and how they guide the creative output emphasising on idea that is about clarity, insight and timelessness in this digital age of immediacy and obsolescence.

Let The Papers Sing To You
March 2015

Collaborating with Victor Low (Affixen) and Edwin Toh (Garage Interactive), Roots conceptualised and designed an interactive installation called 'Let The Papers Sing To You' as part of the creative showcase in the SingaPlural 2015 Festival.

This installation explores the unique experiences of tactile and sound sensory of papers. "Let The Papers Sing To You" is now exhibiting from 10 - 15 March, 11am - 10pm at SingaPlural, 99 Beach Road.

Conversation with Outofstock
February 2015

Jonathan Yuen had a casual conversation with Wendy, Gabriel and Gustavo from Outofstock on the topic of starting out in the industry, published in Cubes Singapore issue 72 - 'In Conversation' segment.

We have always admire the work of Outofstock, so it was a real privilege to share and learn much from the conversation with them.

We collaborated with FARM to conceptualised and designed an object - 'Bountiful' for the Everyday Objects series. Launched by FARM, Everyday Objects project produces 40 inventive and functional products by 40 local artists and designers for everyday use.

It is now available for sale at Singapore Art Museum and The FARM Store online.

We are excited to announce our first collaboration with studio LIE to bring in 'Makanlah Buah-Buahan Tempatan' for a Singapore edition!

Supported by Underscore, this edition is exhibiting as part of The U Factory at Gillman Barracks from 18 — 22 January and feature works of 10 artists/designers from each country that include prints, sculptures, short film, video reels, and potted plants.
