Roots

As part of the 'Design Camp Nara' residency programme sponsored by Nara prefecture government and organised by DOOR to Asia, Roots had a homestay with a local poultry farm, the Izusawa family, and conceived a design proposal for their business brand 'Baaku' over a 3-day period.

Synopsis

Baaku is famed for their high-quality and organic pork produce. The family emphasises on building the connection between people, food and nature as their core business principles.

To elevate Baaku from a small family-run business into a national brand, we stylised the looping shape of a pig tail as the new identity mark to symbolise the connecting principle — an unending cycle from people to food, food to nature, and from nature back to people, ad infinitum.
